MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
New Member Interview Questions
These are the questions we use when interviewing applicants and checking in with renewing members. Members: use them to give the Membership Committee honest, constructive feedback.
For new applicants
- How long has your business been in operation? How long have you been in the industry?
- What other networking activities do you do or attend?
- How comfortable are you introducing your clients and friends?
- What kind of growth do you expect from BNI? Can you handle the growth?
- On average, how many people do you connect with in a week, professionally and personally?
- How do you feel you can refer others in BNI?
- Are you willing to use new vendors for your personal and business needs as relationships develop? Will you refer BNI members to your family, friends, and clients?
- Are you committed to the weekly 90-minute meeting, plus 2-3 hours of BNI, 1-2 hours of other networking, 1 hour of follow-up, and 1 hour of leadership a week?
- Are you comfortable attending training sessions 2-4x a year to enhance your experience and be a leader?
- What differentiates you from others in your industry?
- How do you feel others can refer your business?
- Do you have realistic expectations of referrals to give and receive? (This can be disproportionate depending on business type, quality, industry, and personality.)
- Are you comfortable inviting friends, family, clients, and business associates to BNI meetings?
- How do you feel about being a leader: do you jump in when you see a need, prefer to be volunteered, or prefer to stay on the outskirts? Neither is more correct; there’s a need for both.
